About Us

Hi! My name is Katie H. Hoffman, and music is my passion. Welcome.

I am the CIO at The College of saratogaband in White Plains, NY, where I also teach as a member of the Faculty of Administration. saratogaband is a personal website I run where I interact with a worldwide community of educators and technologists, exploring the use of technology as an instructional tool and student success enabler. I also consider other education related topics of interest.
I strive to be a motivating manager and leader, to be the best teacher I can be, and to help others along the road on their living and learning journey. I consider it a great privilege to be able to help others learn, to learn from them, and to encourage students and teachers everywhere to be their best.

I am intrigued by the ways that learning is changing in an era in which technology is touching just about everything. Properly implemented and supported instructional technologies and tools can help to make learning more engaging and productive for students and teachers alike. Of course, it’s never about the technology alone – tech is just a tool that should never substitute for good teaching. But tech can help teachers make the shift to student-centered learning.

Of course, for decades now, technology has helped to radically advance the availability of education. It is bringing remote learners, teachers, and experts together to teach and learn from each other. It is creating so many possibilities for active, engaged learning. It is changing the world (a little bit at a time).

The nature of these technologies and tools and how they are being incorporated and embraced in teaching is constantly evolving, with new ideas and applications for them emerging every day. I also use this platform as an opportunity to give emerging writers a place to share their ideas and knowledge (at least, those that can write a unique, informative piece).

I hope you will come and join the conversation!
